DRUG POSSESSION AND DRUG TRAFFICKING CHARGES
Within the last two years, the Federal Government of Canada has implemented many changes to the law regarding drug related offences. Previously, a person convicted of drug production or trafficking could be placed on house arrest. However, this has now changed. Many drug related charges involving trafficking or production now carry mandatory minimum jail sentences here in Canada, including production of Cannabis, Methamphetamines, Amphetamines, and other controlled narcotics listed under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, as well as charges of Trafficking under section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, all pose a real threat of jail. This means your case is serious and it is important for you to obtain strong legal advice and representation.
Our criminal defence law firm has significant experience defending persons charged with drug possession and trafficking. In fact, our senior counsel, Mr. Phil Stuffco, Q.C., acted as a Standing Agent for the Attorney General of Canada prosecuting drug matters for many years. Thus our firm knows how drug offences are prosecuted and can defend your case due to our wealth of experience handling such matters.
